一年一度的“游戲開發(fā)者大會(huì)” (Game Developer Conference；GDC)日前在美國加州舊金山的Moscone Center揭開序幕，包括英特爾(Intel)、Nvidia、ARM和Imagination Technologies等多家芯片公司均參與了這場視頻游戲產(chǎn)業(yè)規(guī)模最大的盛事。
2013年GDC吸引了超過350多家企業(yè)在此展出或發(fā)布最新產(chǎn)品與技術(shù)方案。由于芯片產(chǎn)業(yè)的發(fā)展更加倚賴于移動(dòng)運(yùn)算系統(tǒng)的普及(特別是游戲平臺(tái))，這項(xiàng)盛會(huì)正成為芯片產(chǎn)業(yè)每年的重頭戲之一。
參與此次GDC盛會(huì)的芯片公司強(qiáng)調(diào)，吸引開發(fā)人員采用其技術(shù)開發(fā)游戲是參展GDC最主要的動(dòng)機(jī)。此外，也有公司表示，在每年所參與的展覽與會(huì)議中，GDC是最重要的一項(xiàng)。

Slideshow: Chip vendors shine at Game Developers Conference

A handful of chip firms—including Intel, Nvidia and ARM—showed up in force at the video gaming industry's largest event. SAN FRANCISCO—A handful of chip vendors showed up in force at the recent Game Developers Conference (GDC), the video gaming industry's largest and most important event.
Intel, Nvidia, ARM, AMD and Imagination Technologies were among more than 350 firms exhibiting on the show's floor here. Most have been exhibiting at GDC for years. The conference is becoming more important to the chip industry as the industry becomes increasingly reliant on the popularity of mobile computing systems, most of which are natural gaming platforms.
Several staff members working the booths for chip firms acknowledged that enticing developers to develop games for their technology is a primary motivation. Some also said that GDC is among the most important conferences that their firms attend.
More than 23,000 people attended GDC this year, a new record, according to UBM Tech Game Network, the organizer of the event. (Both UBM Tech Game Network and EE Times are owned by UBM plc).

Dell XPS convertible
An Intel employee demos the Dell XPS 12-inch convertible touch screen tablets, featuring a third-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and Intel HD graphics.
Lenovo Horizon Table PC
Lenovo's Horizon Table PC at the Intel booth. The 27-inch Windows PC. The system, which costs around $1,000, generated a lot of buzz at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
